Jazz music has always been loved by people all around the world. People flock in large numbers to attend festivals which feature Jazz music. Jazz concerts become all the more exciting when people get to enjoy the concert as a picnic in which they get to enjoy real good music along with some great wines and food items.

One such festival which takes place in the Hunter valley region is the Jazz in the Vines festival which has been taking place for a period of more than twenty years. The festival will take place on 27th October 2012 from 11am to 6pm at Pokolbin in NSW. The location of the festival is also quite amazing as the venue is surrounded by the beautiful Brokenback Mountains giving a totally awesome view.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The organizers have this year roped in several national and international stars for this very event. Some of the prominent artists which would be performing in this festival are Grace Knight, Henry Butler, Tom Burlinson, Lisa Hunt, Dixie Ticklers and many others.
Besides that several arrangements have also been done to entertain guests with some fabulous food dishes and drinks.

The entire event will be organized in the open and thus organizers have advised visitors to bring their hat and sunscreen lotions in order to avoid sun burns or heat stroke. Visitors are also allowed to bring in their camera to capture some magical moments of the festival.

All children below the age of twelve years do not require to purchase event ticket unless they are accompanied by an adult. However, it must be noted that the event is primarily organized for adults and has no specific events for kids.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Another great thing about the event is that, visitors can enjoy different kinds of wines which are made in the hunter valley region. Some of the renowned wineries belonging to the region will also be setting up their stall at the venue. Wineries like Tyrell’s, Drayton’s and Tamburlaine and many others would participate in this festival.

All these wineries are well known not just in hunter region but all across the country. Besides that, Peterson’s Champagne House will also be setting up a bubble bar just for this musical festival.

Apart from different kinds of wines, soft drinks, water, tea and coffee are also available for the visitors. There are also plenty of gourmet delights from some of the best restaurants of the hunter valley region. Famous restaurants like The Hunter Valley Cheese Company, Pukarta Estate Olives and The Verandah Restaurant will be present at the event.

Jazz music is totally electrifying and people really enjoy every bit of it when they are at the festival. Everyone totally submerge themselves into the moment and dance till they are able too.

 

 

 

 

 

The event will be held in October which makes it quite possible for people to plan for this event well in advance. Interested visitors should also book their hunter valley accommodation in advance as getting a hotel room during festive season becomes quite difficult.

The event will be held in Pokolbin which itself is a popular tourist spot. There are plenty of historic wineries and vineyards in town which are truly amazing and have interesting historical background. At hunter valley tourists can expect things which they have never imagined even in their wildest dreams. The atmosphere of the valley encourages people to think out of the box and arrange festivals which are different and exciting.

One such festival which is held in the Hunter valley is the Back to Back wool challenge which is a sort of a race against the time. In this festival participant sheer the sheep and then they knit the jumper. The festival just not just stops there as there are also lots of workshops and stalls which sell some amazing stuff.

The Back to Back festival of 2012 will be held on 3rd June 2012 at Turpentine Tree Kurrajong heights. Just like the last year people are expecting that the event will achieve much more than what they have achieved in previous years.

The amazing part of the event is that every year one local team from Kurrajong takes on different teams from different parts of the world. The competition is to see which team is more capable of taking wool shorn from the back of the sheep, spin and knit the wool and then put it back on the shearer back as quickly as possible.

The fastest time ever achieved in this event is 4 fours 51 minutes and every year’s people and organizers hope that this record would be broken. The last year winners of this competition were a team from Toronto Canada.

The main purpose for this event is to raise money and spread awareness about prostrate cancer. Up till now the organizers have been able raise around $40,000 but people are confident that the number would soon cross the one million mark in the coming years.

Besides the wool challenge, there is another event which is known as the Apple Pie Bake off event in which the contestants compete with each other to prepare the best Apple pie. The recipe of the winner of this contest is auctioned and the proceeds from the auction are donated to the cancer research fund.

Besides the regular competition, there are also lots of eating stalls which sell some mind blowing food stuff. The delicacies which are served there are local and are considered as one of the best dishes in the entire country.

Food is not the only thing which is served at the event. There are number of entertainment stalls present at the event as well. Live music, games and antique products are all available. There are also plenty of activities for the kids as well.

The place where the event takes place is a beautiful 10 acre garden. The place is beautiful and is popular among people who are looking for some calm and peace. The site is also a popular wedding spot and is perfect for family picnics. People can enjoy the event by paying a small fees, the proceeds of which go to the Cancer Council of NSW.

The event is a perfect reason why people should break away from their busy schedule and head straight to Bilpin in order to attend the wool challenge festival. The event is organized to raise funds for a noble cause and by participating in it, a person definitely does their bit to make the world a much safer place.

In Hunter Valley too, there are number of places which are beautiful and should also be visited. Places like Singleton, Pokolbin and Cessnock are extremely beautiful and should be included in the travel plan.
