At hunter valley tourists can expect things which they have never imagined even in their wildest dreams. The atmosphere of the valley encourages people to think out of the box and arrange festivals which are different and exciting.

One such festival which is held in the Hunter valley is the Back to Back wool challenge which is a sort of a race against the time. In this festival participant sheer the sheep and then they knit the jumper. The festival just not just stops there as there are also lots of workshops and stalls which sell some amazing stuff.

The Back to Back festival of 2012 will be held on 3rd June 2012 at Turpentine Tree Kurrajong heights. Just like the last year people are expecting that the event will achieve much more than what they have achieved in previous years.

The amazing part of the event is that every year one local team from Kurrajong takes on different teams from different parts of the world. The competition is to see which team is more capable of taking wool shorn from the back of the sheep, spin and knit the wool and then put it back on the shearer back as quickly as possible.

The fastest time ever achieved in this event is 4 fours 51 minutes and every year’s people and organizers hope that this record would be broken. The last year winners of this competition were a team from Toronto Canada.

The main purpose for this event is to raise money and spread awareness about prostrate cancer. Up till now the organizers have been able raise around $40,000 but people are confident that the number would soon cross the one million mark in the coming years.

Besides the wool challenge, there is another event which is known as the Apple Pie Bake off event in which the contestants compete with each other to prepare the best Apple pie. The recipe of the winner of this contest is auctioned and the proceeds from the auction are donated to the cancer research fund.

Besides the regular competition, there are also lots of eating stalls which sell some mind blowing food stuff. The delicacies which are served there are local and are considered as one of the best dishes in the entire country.

Food is not the only thing which is served at the event. There are number of entertainment stalls present at the event as well. Live music, games and antique products are all available. There are also plenty of activities for the kids as well.

The place where the event takes place is a beautiful 10 acre garden. The place is beautiful and is popular among people who are looking for some calm and peace. The site is also a popular wedding spot and is perfect for family picnics. People can enjoy the event by paying a small fees, the proceeds of which go to the Cancer Council of NSW.

The event is a perfect reason why people should break away from their busy schedule and head straight to Bilpin in order to attend the wool challenge festival. The event is organized to raise funds for a noble cause and by participating in it, a person definitely does their bit to make the world a much safer place.

In Hunter Valley too, there are number of places which are beautiful and should also be visited. Places like Singleton, Pokolbin and Cessnock are extremely beautiful and should be included in the travel plan.
